Mosfet burned but still works, want to replace it

Post by carlos_en14 »

Looks like a mosfet did burned. Is a 2x15A V5D. The mosfet is a 5 volts to 3 volts regulator.

It does turn on and leds go on, but i don't feel like it is going to work well, i want to repair it first. I am from México and i don't think i am able to send it for a repair. So..

Can it be replaced by myself? Does anybody knows the model or any spec? or any common electronic device that uses a similar one? Or at last anything i can do make the controller work,

Some help would be great!! Thanks in advance..

That is not a mosfet. That is the 3.3v linear regulator for the main processor and sensors. Nothing from the outside can pull power from that regulator so it should never get even warm, let alone hot enough to burn which would indicate something else is probably the cause and this is just a symptom. Please describe how you were using the board when this happened in as much detail as you can.

1. I recommend you return the unit for us to diagnose and repair.
2. If you replace the part, a MCP1700 3.3v regulator, you will void your warranty.
3. Just removing the bottom plate can prevent the unit from working at optimal performance if you dont replace the thermal transfer compound on the heatsink so even if you repaired it we can not guarantee performance which is another reason to send it in for us to diagnose.

You can send the board to our Contact US address. Include your return address and contact information in the box. If you have tracking please email support@ionmc.com with that as well.
