RoboClaw ST 45A connections

Post by monkeyiq »

Hi,
Unfortunately the user manual currently linked on the ST 45A product page does not include information on the ST 45A.

I am upgrading a robot that was using a V3 5A controller. Looking at the ST45A I assume that the rotary encoders are connected to the green screw terminal on the left side of the board?

Would the +/- power for the encoders go to the BEC on the board now? Information on what JP1 does might also be handy.

Looking forward to controlling the new motors with the RoboClaw!

Connecting to the green terminal seemed to work ok. I just used the ground and 5v rail from the BEC to run the encoder. I will have to verify but I think that the encoders might be labelled the wrong way around, ie, M1's encoder is labeled as M2's encoder.

That is correct. There is only one gnd and 5v connection on the ST boards(because of size limitations).

Also, you are correct, Enc1 is for M2 and Enc2 is for M1 on the ST boards.
