Roboclaw poower supply

Post by henryacev »

I what to use a 22.2 Lipo Battery for my robot, but my motors are 12V, can I feed the 22.2v to the roboclaw and run the motors? or do I need to convert to 12 V and feed to the M/C?

I'm new to this, so I'm not sure if it works

I would not recommend using 22.2v on a 12v motor. I also would not recommend regulating 22.2v down to 12v. Its unlikely you would be able to do this with enough current capacity and you would have to wire up something to handle the motor regeneration which would make the project extremely complex. Do you have a particular reason you need 22.2v for something else or is this just so you can use a battery you already have?
