IonStudio in Parallels Win 7 VM on macOS?

Post by JetForMe »

Hi. I've got the latest IonStudio in a Parallels Win 7 VM running on macOS 10.12.5. My Mac can successfully communicate with the RoboClaw over packet serial, but IonStudio doesn't see it when connected to the VM.

Has anyone made this work? Thanks.

IonStudio uses some low level Windows api calls to find the Roboclaws. Its probable this fails on Parallels. We dont currently have Parallels on our Mac. It appears there is a test version available. We will try to set it up to run some tests. Unfortunately Im not sure how long that will be.

It looks like another user is using Parallels on a slightly newer MacOS verison and it works ok. See the post here:

Yup, seems to run just fine I was able to update one Roboclaw, but not the other (once in boot loader mode, it wouldn't show up as a USB device on either OS). Thanks!

You may need to send the one you cant detect in. We can reprogram it with the lastest firmware, test it and send it back.
