Re: Can I use a pot for position feedback without an encoder?

Okay, I need to make sure I understand properly.

You said "For velocity or position control you need an encoder on the motor".

Does this mean that I need both an incremental encoder and a position feedback pot? Or is a pot only without an encoder an option?

Thanks.

Re: Can I use a pot for position feedback without an encoder?

That's great!

So I'm just confused as to how to hook up the feedback pot to the board. I'm only using one motor.

I assume I will set the encoder mode to absolute.

I'll use S1 for the RC input, but where does the voltage from the feedback pot connect?

Thanks again!

Can I use a pot for position feedback without an encoder?

Hi, I'd like to use RC Mode to control a motor in position mode. I'm a little confused about whether or not I need an encoder on the motor. Looking at the question in this forum titled: "Using RC Mode with feedback for position control", the user says he is using "embedded potentiomet...

Thanks for your reply! I obviously missed that. As I said, I think you have a great system.

User manual clarification using commands 65 - 67

Hi, I am using a Roboclaw 2x7A with one motor, and just got command 65 to work properly. It turns out that I needed to set QPPS using command 28 first (or save it to the EPROM from IonMotion). The manual doesn't really make it clear that QPPS is necessary for position mode.. I had set QPPS to 300,00...

[SOLVED] Firmware update timing out

Hello, I just purchased my first RoboClaw, a 2x5A. I powered the board and plugged in a USB after installing the USB/serial drivers, and ran the IonMotion software. The first time it recognized the board, and showed the board number in the drop-down tab. When I clicked "Connect", it showed...
