Voltage clamp
Hi,
Is it possible to have 2 separate mosfits controlled by S5 operating 2 separate resistors. This would give a safe guard if there was a fault in one circuit. Are I worrying about nothing or is this an idea that sounds like it would work.
Thanks

Encoder question.
Hi, I have finally progressed to the encoder side of things and have run into a problem. The encoder I would like to use is not reading https://www.ebay.com.au/itm/Rotary-Encoder-400P-R-6mm-Incremental-Optical-Shaft-Working-Measurement-5-24V-WS-/322470877246?hash=item4b14c3183e I have tried a differ...

Voltage Clamp
Firstly I would like to say a big thanks for the recent repair to my Roboclaw. I can highly recommend Ion Motion going by the customer service I have just received. I have started to experiment using the BUK965R8 as recommended for the voltage clamp. The one I received is a surface mount version as ...

Re: Voltage clamp question.
Thanks for your reply. One more question, would 2 resistors in parallel be a good idea to share the load/heat allowing me to have a higher clamp potential for added safety ?
Thanks again
Thanks again

Re: Voltage clamp question.
If I wanted to clamp more do I go up or down in ohms of the resistor ? Also what are the pros and cons of having a resistor that clamps more amps than required ? I'm using a resistor of 100w and a temperature controlled fan for cooling but I was thinking that clamping more may be give extra safety j...

E stop resistor size
How do I determine the resistor size for the e stop circuit ?. On page 45 of the 2 x 45 a manual it shows the limit / home and e stop wiring. I take it the wiring is the same for all. The resistor shown as R2 I take it is the one I need to add. My wiring to the control area will be 20 mtrs long. If ...

Usb control
Hi, Do you need an encoder fitted to run off ion studio ? I have been unable to get the motor moving. I'm using a 2 x 45 amp Roboclaw. I have been reading the manual but still not getting any motor movement. I have set for bridge mode. Set amps and voltage settings. I only have the motor connected t...

Encoder power draw
The encoder on the motor I'm using has very limited information. Would anyone be able to take a guess what approximate power draw an encoder would pull ? I,m trying to work out if it is feasible to run the logic side with one encoder off a battery for a few hours. I want to do this because I will be...

Voltage clamp question.
Motor Control.png Hi I have a Roboclaw 2 x 45 to run a 17 amp motor that peaks under load at 50 amps with the motor bridge. Could someone please tell me if the wiring and components I will be using are correct for running on a 80 amp 24 volt power supply. I would like to have a voltage clamp. I wan...
