Re: Questions about the safety wirings
I looked at your circuit diagram and photo. Just two more things you should do to make the power distribution be "best practice". One rule is that the purpose of a fuse is to protect the wires from overheating should that be damage that causes a short. SO while the battery is a high amp fu...

Roboclaw stops with all LEDs off, power cycle required
As said in the title. All the LEDs are off. From the user manual I'd expect any error condition to put the red LED is some state other then solid off. When I power cycle the Roboclaw it seems to start working again. I just refreshed the unit with latest firmware, perhaps now the firmware is ahead of...

Re: Using roboclaw with ros_control, and programming interface
They provide exactly what is needed https://github.com/sonyccd/roboclaw_ros clone the above Change the "com port" to match the one for your system build with catkin_make. There is even a launch file that will start it. I've been driving a diff drive robot around for a few hours today then ...

Re: Smoke released from 2x15 roboclaw.
Tanks for you help. Yes I always test in that order, run motors open loop to verify basic operation and the direction s correct. Tun PID parameters in "Studio" then very simple tests using ROS. I was dong that last step when the failure occurred. I was worried the 2x15 might be under sized...

Re: Smoke released from 2x15 roboclaw.
Let's figure out what is happening BEFORE I send it back. Perhaps I need to buy a much larger RoboClaw controller. Which do you recommend? This is the load I'm driving: https://www.pololu.com/product/1563 It is a 6 wheel drive chassis. The unit was modified to add a pair of quadrature encoders to th...

Re: Emergency Stop Circuit
What you are talking about is not an "E-Stop". It is a "Watch Dog". The different is that a watch dog has to kick some object periodically of the motors stop. An E-stop is a big red button about 1.5 inch diameter. You hit it and the machine stops. The button latches and must be r...

Smoke released from 2x15 roboclaw.
I'm wondering what I could have done to have caused this... I think I can repair (or does warranty cover this?) it but I don't want to reconnect this until I understand the root cause of the problem. I have a 2x15 Roboclaw. I got it running with the ROS node driver and a keyboard teleoperation node....

Re: Roboclaw 2x15 - logic battery vs main battery
If you are worried about "'correctness, grounds and safety, I see an error. You batteries are wired (+) -> (switch) -> (fuse). The fuse needs to the as physically and electrically close the battery is is possible. In the ideal case the battery would be inside a box and the fuse inside the same ...

How long to Warranty repairs take?
Tracking shows that the package containing my defective Roboclaw controller was delivered to the factory on May16. It has been 10 days. I would expect to have gotten some kind of response.
Actually I am close enough that 1st class mail goes overnight so it could have been turned around already

Re: I think my new 15A Roboclaw has a problem
The version is "V5D" I've tried a larger power supply. I have an old power supply from an old PC that can supply up to 16A at 12V. It trips too. But the circuit protection takes some number of minutes to reset I use the 9V battery because without it I loose power to the logic when the powe...
