Re: Wiring multiple Roboclaw with Nvidia TX1
The wiring is shown in the manual on page 47. You do not need to have the 5v going to the controling MCU from teh Roboclaw as shown in the diagram. You just need the GND,TX and RX. However that MCU must be 5v tolerant or you could damage its I/O pins.

Re: Roboclaw 2x60A current sensing
Sorry. You are correct. I shifted the decimal point too far.

Re: Home/Limit switches
The current firmware does not support 2 limit switchs(home+limit) on the same motor. The next update of the Roboclaw firmware will allow two switches to be connected to the same limit signal input(eg S4 for motor 1 and s5 for motor 2). The limit type(forward or reverse) is detected on the fly when t...

Re: Tuning and position
Make sure you have the latest firmware and IonMotion software. Make sure the encoders increase in value when the motor is moving forward. use the PWM settings window and move the motors power slider UP for forward. If the encoder is going backwards/down relative to the motor swap the motor wires or ...

Re: Roboclaw 2x60A current sensing
1. The readings are returned in 1/100th amp values so the value of 60 is .06amps or 60ma 2. Current sensing is noisy even with filtering. Its reading microvolts of difference to determine the current. 3. When you dont have a motor attached on a channel you are getting readings which couple to nearby...

Re: Novice Velocity PID Instructions?
Different values but usually in the same ballpark if they are the same model motors running the same load.

Re: Novice Velocity PID Instructions?
1. Sorry, this thread has gotten long and I didnt remember you are using a very old model. 2. P means proportional. It doesnt regulate speed very well. For true speed control you must use P and I. But the fact there is a big difference in speeds between the two motors indicates the P settings for th...

Re: Soft start/stop and position control
Ok, just continue from this post when you are ready. One note, if you plan on using quadrature encoders with position control you need to home the encoders(eg reset them to a known position. Since these are incremental encoder they dont remember their last position after powering down and dont know ...

Re: Novice Velocity PID Instructions?
Thos e are just the example PID settings we use because they are neutral. They wont cause any motor to go crazy. They, however, are no where near what any motor I have every used required to be properly tuned. I highly recommend you handle tuning the motors in the IonMotion software and just save th...
