Are you using a USB cable or a RS-232 to TTL adapter or a USB to TTL adapter?

Motor noise can cause USB problems. Swith to a cable with a choke on it(barrel shape near the end that plugs into the Roboclaw). This can help prevent USB glitches. Windows in general isnt good at handling USB problems. If you arent using Linux for ROS you may want to switch to it. Linux does better with USB errors.

Other than the above, check the obvious. Good connectors on your cables. Good common ground.
