SOLO absolute encoder doesn't move / Motion Sudio

Post by brussieux » Tue Dec 18, 2018 6:05 am

hi, i use a SOLO (last firmware version 4.1.27) and Motion studio

i connected a 500 ohms potentiometer as an absolute encoder between control interface header pins +5V, GND (+ resistor 500ohms connected in series with the potentiometer to reduce voltage swing output from the potentiometer to 2.5Vols) the wiper output of my potentiometer connected to the SOLO 1A encoder input.

Encoder 1 mode is checked 'absolute' in motion studio/general settings page.

Problem : M1 encoder position readings always stay constant, and does not follow the wiper position of the potentiometer.

Question:is my wiring correct? Did you experience such phenomenon using your SOLO?

regards. Marc

I dont have one in front of me to test right now but move the analog signal to the B encoder pin instead of the A pin. I believe that will fix the problem.
