Roboclaw brushless equivalent
Roboclaw brushless equivalent
Hello,
We are very happy with the level of functionality of our dual roboclaw controller (for a mobile robot application). We are considering switching to brushless motors for a new application.
Are you planning to extend your range of product to brusless controllers? Do you know any equivalent ?

Yes we are. We should have our first prototype brushless design in a few weeks and then I expect it will be around 2 to 3 months before we have the production units available for sale. Initial model will be a single channel similar to the Roboclaw Solos but we plan on a dual channel design as well.

That's great news!
What would be the encoder input? 3-phase Hall sensors? Quadrature encoders ? Both?

Re: Roboclaw brushless equivalent
hall, quadrature encoder or combination hall + quadrature for commutation control. We will also support analog/absolute encoders(potentiometers for example) but only for position control(commutation requires the higher resolution of quadrature at a minimum).
The plan is to have all the same functions as Brushed Roboclaw.
We do not plan on supporting sensorless brushless with the initial models(if ever).

Just an update. The schedule has been pushed back some on the first brushless model. Other projects have taken longer than expected. At this point we are looking at first production units around September.

Any update when the first brushless units will be available?

Sorry. Its currently low man on the totem as it were. We've been working on new high power Solo models and updates to the brushed lineup which has taken most of our time. At this point I'd say after the new year before we can finish development and potentially have first production units.

Well. If you need someone to beta test. I'm sure my mower can find all your weak points
