The 2x5a v4 boards dont have USB and use older mosfets so cant supply as much current as the 2x7a V5 boards. However that doesnt really effect how the PID runs.
The most likely cause of your problem is the much older firmware on the V4 boards.
You can send that board in and we will update the firmware to the latest version. Though you still wont be able to update the firmware in the field like the V5 boards, it should function the same as the V7 does with the current firmware except when exceding the maximum current limits. You should then be able to use the same PID settings on both boards.
