I've had to add pull-ups to the A/B lines. It would be nice if there were SMD pads ready to do this on the roboclaws.

We do not have pull-ups hardwired on the Roboclaw because there is no standard to interface to encoders. Some encoders drive high and low and some are open drain. Some may need 3.3v pullups and some may need 5v pullups.
