Packer Serial Board Identification
Packer Serial Board Identification
Wanted to report that in packet serial mode where I have used Motion Control to set the serial board address the board won't respond to asking getConfig/99 unless you are using the correct serial address for that board. Not unreasonable behavior.
In my use case I have 5 roboclaw boards each on a separate USB plug and because the OS can dynamically assign com ports I need to query each comport with a range of robotclaw serial addresses until I get a response and know what board is plugged into what com port. Found that using 128 address on one of the boards would get odd responses. Didn't use 128 and get the expected behavior.
Let me know if there is an easier way to do this with the goal of identifying a specific board based on an ID. Putting the board in simple serial mode loose the ability to set the packet ID in Motion Studio.
