2x7A problems reading encoder continuously

Post by pathare »

hey guys,
could someone shed some light on the typical causes of an invalid CRC on returned data? I'm asking the robocaw to send me the encoder position at regular intervals and it works for a period then gives an invalid crc.

Noise is the typical cause of CRC errors. Please check your encoder outputs and the 5v line going to the encoders while the motor is running with an ocillascope. We have seen several motors with built in encoders with serious noise problems caused by improper snubber circuits on the motors. The fix is fairly easy if this is the cause of the problem.

I couldn't figure out if this post ever went through and ended up emailing support.

Thanks though

That is fine. We can continue through emails instead of that is what you prefer.
