Reset encoder through Basic Micro

Post by fotoguero » Tue Aug 13, 2019 9:38 am

I am trying to find out how to reset the encoder on the RoboClaws 2x7A. The Zero out button in the Basic Micro software doesn’t seem to work. I have a linear actuator connected. Originally the range was 500-1500. Now, for some reason, the highest the encoder reads is 2000 but that’s in midway through the stroke. Past that, the encoder doesn't change even when the piston continues "forward" I can’t get it to tune to the top most and bottom most values. I think the answer is to reset the reading of the encoder.

You can not zero an absolute encoder. Because they are absolute encoders. Every position has a unique value.

I believe I talked with you on the phone yesterday. You remembered then you originally had a resistor as we defined in the user manual in series with the 5v input to the pot. Once you put that back in, you should have full range of travel again.
